Avon rang in its newest varsity sport in grand fashion as the boys lacrosse team put two years of waiting as a club sport behind them and christened Joe Firment Stadium with a 16-2 victory over Lutheran West.

Waiting the in the wings under coach Paul Allen, the youthful Eagles gave him win no. 1 for the program, thanks to a barrage of shots on an excellent Longhorns keeper, and paved the way to the historic win.

Led by a youthful core, Avon sophomore Connor Walsh put on a clinic with a four-goal, one-assist night as freshman Danny Zeh had four goals with an assist to clamp down the first win in program history.

“It was great, there was good ball movement, everyone was catching and passing,” Walsh said. “In our scrimmages, we weren’t doing that so well. We clicked today, though. It was awesome.”
