David Orlando didn’t take too many plays off for Avon. The Eagles’ do-it-all player scored two touchdowns, kicked extra points and field goals, and played on defense in a 31-7 road win Sept. 1 against Olmsted Falls.
After staging a late-game comeback, Avon (1-0, 1-0 Southwest Conference) went ahead early and stayed in front throughout, as Orlando ran for a 10-yard score in the second quarter and caught a 24-yard pass from Ryan Maloy to begin the second half. He chalked up both plays to all-around team effort.
On his rushing touchdown, “The line held up and I had amazing blocking on the outside,” he said. On his TD catch in the third quarter, which extended Avon’s lead to 24-0, it was more of the same. “The line held up and (the play) opened up and Maloy gave me a nice pass.”
