After being denied seven times in the first half, Avon exploded with a trio of early goals in the second half, eventually taking down Olmsted Falls, 4-0, in an early season Southwestern Conference showdown at Joe Firment Chevrolet Stadium on Aug. 22.
Having seen his team struggle to score in the past, the three-goal barrage was a welcomed sight to see for Avon coach Chris Dore.
“I just think that it has been a full year of last year struggling to score … Over a course of time, if you control the game and keep offensive pressure on them, then one turns into two, turns into three,” Dore said. “(Olmsted Falls) is always a good team. They have been a handful for I don’t know how many years.”
