NORTH RIDGEVILLE — Avon remained perfect in Southwestern Conference play, but it needed a pair of late goals to accomplish as much.

Nicholas Soulas scored with just over 10 minutes left in the second half to tie the game before Adam Kalvitz broke the tie in the game’s waning minutes in the Eagles’ 3-2 win at North Ridgeville High School on Senior Night for the Rangers.

“That’s a big win for us,” said Avon coach Tony Dore, who was filling in for his ill son, Chris Dore. “This was a conference game and we’re trying to hold on to first place. They gave us all we wanted.”

Avon got on the board first 7:47 into the game when junior Jin Nakano took a long feed from senior Drew Whited and beat North Ridgeville goalie Joe Grau with a left-footed shot that bounced in off the crossbar.
