The Avon girls golf team won the Division I Sweetbriar Sectional on Oct. 2 thanks in part to a sizzling round by Bua Wattanauanichakorn.
The junior shot a 76 — 37 in her first nine holes, then a 39 — as the Eagles (344) won by eight shots over runner-up Olmsted Falls (352). Wattanauanichakorn earned medalist honors with her 76.
The top four teams and individuals advanced to the district tournament.
Other top scorers for the Eagles were Amanda Holtzman (88), Ainsely Gillcrist (90) and Aubrie Rush (90). Top performers for Olmsted Falls were Kayla Kippes (81), Samantha Torres (86), Alyson Veverka (86) and Rebecca Abbott (99).
