2019-2020 Athletic Season in Review

Thank You to the Avon Players, Coaches, Parents and Community for all their support for the 2019-2020 Athletic Year.  Even without a spring season, Avon had a great year!  6 Teams won Southwestern Conference Championships, 5 Individuals qualified for their OHSAA State Championship, Football went to the Final 4 for the third straight season, Boys Soccer made an OHSAA Sweet 16 appearance for the 2nd straight year, Girls Cross Country won an OHSAA District Championship. Southwestern Conference Champions Congratulations to the following teams: Football, Girls Tennis, Volleyball, Girls Cross Country, Girls Golf, Boys Golf.  Of note, Football and  Volleyball each won their 4th straight title. Diving: Avon’s Amanda Socha places eighth at state tournament

Paul Heyse The Chronicle-Telegram Feb 20, 2020  Avon’s Amanda Socha made the podium but was far from satisfied with an eighth-place finish Thursday at the Division I state tournament at CT Branin Natatorium in Canton. A pair of bad dives in the second and 10th rounds of the 11-dive competition prevented Socha from placing as high as second or third. HIGH SCHOOL SWIMMING: SEVERAL AREA SWIMMERS EARN AUTOMATIC BIDS FOR DISTRICT MEET

Feb 8, 2020  Area swimmers took to pools at both Cleveland State and the University of Akron on Feb. 7 and 8 for sectional meets, looking to qualify for the district meet. In the Division II meet in Akron, 2019 Morning Journal girls swimmer of the year Maja Miedza anchored the first-place Bay Rockets 200 medley relay. Miedza placed ninth at the D-II state meet in the 50 freestyle, and 14th in the 100 free. The Rockets’ girls team finished second overall, and the boys team finished 11th. Please Support the Annual SOUPer Bowl Food Drive!!!

The annual SOUPer Bowl Food Drive to benefit Community Resource Services (CRS) will take place Friday, Aug 30, at 7 p.m. at the Joe Firment Chevrolet Stadium, 3075 Stoney Ridge Road, in Avon during the Avon vs. Avon Lake football game. This annual food drive is a friendly competition between the Avon and Avon Lake communities.  The communities are currently collecting food (non-perishable items only) and monetary donations for the CRS food pantry, which supports families in need in both communities. Each dollar contributed will be counted as five pounds of food. Food trucks for each community will be stationed at the football …
