HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH
September 15th marks the beginning of Hispanic Heritage Month. National Hispanic Heritage Month runs through October 15th to celebrate the histories, cultures and contributions of American citizens whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central and South America.
 
HOMECOMING WEEK IS HERE!
Celebrate all week by dressing up in the following themes:

Monday; Monochromatic Monday

Tuesday: Rhyme without Reason

Wednesday: Barbie & Ken

Thursday: Dress your best- picture day

Friday: PJ DAY

Seniors! Vote for your homecoming Royalty. 10 seniors have been elected by your class to be representatives on the 2023 Homecoming Court, and now it’s time to elect Homecoming Royalty! You can find the Homecoming Royalty election form on your graduating class Google Classroom. Voting will end at 3:00 PM on Friday, September 23rd. 

This year's Homecoming Dance will take place on Saturday, October 7th. Tickets are on sale now and end on Friday, October 6th. Tickets cost $25 and will be available for purchase online only through Local Level. If you are bringing a guest who does not attend Avon High School, stop by the main office to pick up a visiting date request form. This form must be submitted to your administrator no later than Wednesday, October 4th.
 
MARCHING BAND NEWS 
This past weekend the Mighty Eagle Marching Band qualified for OMEA State Finals. Qualifying at the first competition for any band is quite an accomplishment. Additionally, the band finished 6th out of a very competitive field of 15 bands. Catch us at the Lake competition across the tracks at 6:45 PM on September 30th if you have yet to see our 2023 production, Villains!
 
CALLING ALL FRESHMEN!
Attention all current freshmen! The freshmen class is seeking out spirited and energetic individuals who are interested in representing their class next week at Thursday's homecoming parade! Individuals are needed to help deocrate and ride the float for the Class of 2027. If you are interested, please come to Mrs. Bryant's classroom, Room 232, next Monday, October 2nd immediately after the bell at 2:40pm for a brief informational meeting. The meeting will not last for more than 10 minutes. If you are interested but unable to attend the meeting, please stop into Room 232 prior to information and to sign up.
 
BOOK CLUB MEETING
Book Club will be having its next meeting on October 2nd, after school, in the media center. We will be discussing our spooky October books: The Murder on The Orient Express and The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches. As always you do not have to read the books to attend the meeting! Check google classroom for more updates. 
  
DRAMA CLUB
The Set Construction calendar is now posted to the Drama Club Classroom page.  Check out the calendar to see when we'll be working on the set for Dracula.  See Mr. Eldridge if you have any questions.
  
PICTURE DAY IS COMING! 
Underclassmen school picture day will take place on Thursday, October 5th. On this day, students in grades 9, 10, and 11 will come down to the main gym to have their school portrait taken. 
We also want to encourage all teachers, staff, secretaries, custodians, aides, lunch staff, building subs and anyone else employed by Avon High School or the Avon Local School District to stop in to have their portrait taken. 
Senior Portrait Day will take place on Monday, October 9th. Seniors will come down with their ELA, CCP, or AP English classes. Seniors may also stop in at ANY time on this day to have their senior portraits taken. Remember the dress code, seniors:
  • No hats, hoodies, or t-shirts 
  • A Shirt and tie are required
  • and shoulders must be covered
Anyone not meeting these dress requirements run the risk of not being included in the senior section of the yearbook.  
Please stop into Room 219 or email Mr. Tokarczyk with any questions.
 
YEARBOOK
The 2023 yearbook was a major success! If you did not purchase a 2023 yearbook, we have a few left over. See Mr. Tokarczyk in Room 219 if you would like to purchase a 2023 yearbook. Get yours while supplies last!   
 
LOST & FOUND
Lost & Found is located in the Main office, near the Performing Arts Center.
Stop in to claim lost items or turn in items that you have found. Please put your name on your belongings for a fast identification.
 

NEED A SCHOOL PLANNER?
Looking to kick off the year right by staying organized? Come see Mrs. Reinart in the principal’s office to purchase a school planner. You can pay $5 cash or your school account will be charged. Hurry while supplies last!

BAND PRACTICE ON WEDNESDAYS-MOVE CARS
Student’s who park in the west lot in the band practice area need to move their cars on Wednesdays if you are staying after school. Find an open spot in the west lot away from the practice area.
