The AMS Morning News items are announced at school and then are posted on our website for several school days. The news items reflect events, activities, general information, and news items about Avon Middle School and Avon Local Schools. Results of and information about interscholastic athletics are communicated to the AMS Main Office by the respective sports team coach(es). Sporting events results are then announced at school and posted via The AMS Morning.

Attention 6th & 7th graders who signed up for the elective 'Sea, Earth & Beyond':  You have received an email from Mrs. Neumann.  Please read it by Friday of this week. 
Reminder about school-owned Chromebooks:
  • In-person learners will turn in their school-owned Chromebooks with charger cords to their 9 th period teachers or study hall monitor today.  
  • Virtual learners  will return their school-owned Chromebooks with charger cords today, between 4:00-6:00 p.m. in the lobby. Please remember to enter the main (flagpole) entrance while following health and safety guidelines. 
We encourage students to make sure that no items are left in their assigned lockers. Also, make sure to check the Lost & Found bins in the Commons so that none of your personal items are left behind. Contents from the lockers and Lost & Found will be emptied and donated to a local charity by Monday, June 7.
Attention Students using an Elevator fob: Fobs need to be turned into the office before dismissal today. 
The AMS Boosters have partnered with 1st Day School Supplies again to offer parents and students one-stop shopping for all their school supply needs. These kits will contain exactly what is on the school supply list and will be shipped right to your front door in August. Remember to purchase the kit for the grade your child will be in next year, not their current grade! The deadline to order is July 1, 2021. You can make your purchase today by going on the AMS website. and clicking the End-of-School-Year link.

Reminder to Eighth Grade Students: Taped to the windows in the Commons are the lists of students who will be recognized today for Academic Honors for the first three Marking Periods. Please make sure you have checked these lists, as you will be dismissed during lunchtime by the monitors to go to the tables near the trophy cases to pick-up your certificate.
  • Highest Academic Honors:  4.00 GPA
  • High Academic Honors:  3.70 – 3.99 GPA with no Ds or Fs

  • In-person learners (Track A) will turn in their school-owned Chromebooks with charger cords to their 9th period teachers or study hall monitor on the last day of school – Wednesday, June 2nd.

Reminder about textbooks and school-owned materials
  • In-person learners can turn in their school textbooks and materials to their respective teachers as they move through the last two days of school. If you have any questions, please contact your child’s teacher(s). 
  • Virtual learners can drop off their materials on Wednesday, June 2 (4:00-6:00 p.m.) in the lobby. Please remember to enter the main (flagpole) entrance while following health and safety guidelines.
Reminder:  UNIT TESTS / FINAL EXAMINATIONS:
  • 6th Graders will have their Unit Tests on Tuesday, June 1st and Wednesday, June 2nd. Unit Test grades will be factored into the Fourth Quarter Grades.
  • 7th and 8th Graders will take their Final Examinations on Tuesday, June 1 (B Block Day) and Wednesday, June 2 (A Block Day), with the exam grade being factored into the Final Grade.
  • Unit Tests (Grade 6) and Final Examinations (Grades 7/8) that are missed and/or not taken will automatically be calculated as an F grade.
  • In-person learners (Track A) are expected to attend school in person for the remainder of this school year, especially for Unit Tests and Final Examinations.

Reminder from Mr. Moellman: There is no 6th Grade Jazz Band after school today. Great job at the concert on Monday! 
It is important that all students attend each school day within the district’s attendance guidelines. Virtual learners (Track B) are expected to be logging into their classes each class period. In-person learners (Track A) are expected to attend school in person for the remainder of this school year, especially for Unit Tests or Final Examinations. That means, your finals are taken in school if you are Track A. If you have any questions, please call the Main Office.
