North Ridgeville hung with first-place Avon for one half, and then the Eagles took over.
The Rangers and Eagles met for their annual tussle, and once again it was Avon coming out on top as it notched a trio of second-half goals en route to a 4-0 victory in Southwestern Conference action at Rangers Stadium on Sept. 25.
The Eagles have notched 10 shutouts this season, including four straight.
Fueling the offensive explosion was Avon’s Aidan Lacko. The senior notched a hat trick, helping the Eagles (10-0-2, 5-0-2 SWC) pour it on in the second half.
“We just dominated that whole second half,” Lacko said. “We kept just playing it to our outside wings and then attacking the back, and then we would cross it in and finish on those cross-ins.”
He made his presence felt early, tallying the game’s first goal in the fifth minute by booting it in from 20 yards away. He added his second in the 42nd minute of play, coming away with a header after scramble inside the box and putting it right past North Ridgeville goalkeeper Will Jedlicka. Finally, Lacko notched his hat trick on a beautiful header inside the box from teammate Keegan Dawson.
