COLUMBIA STATION — In the final tournament before Thursday’s conference championship, Avon and Keystone continued to show why they are at the head of the class.
Led by junior Brenton Dill’s 5-over 76, Avon added another trophy to its ever-growing collection at Monday’s Midview Invitational at the Columbia Hills Country Club, shooting a 312.
Dill set a blistering pace on the front nine, going 2-under with three birdies. Although he eventually came back to the field with a 42 on the back nine, Dill led the way for the Eagles, who are ready to defend their Southwestern Conference championship later this week.
“It was an interesting round, going two under on the front and seven over on the back,” Dill said. “On the back I had two four-putts and a triple bogey.”
The Eagles showed the same consistency they’ve had all season, with juniors Nolan King and Tyler Christy shooting 77 and 78, respectively.
“I have a lot of confidence in us as a team right now,” Dill said. “We can come out to a very nice country club like this with fast greens and shoot well and then go to a public course with slower greens and also shoot well. It gives me a lot of hope we can adapt to anything.”
