AVON-The Eagles offense took awhile to get off the ground Friday, but Sam DeTillio made sure Avon eventually reached flying altitude.

DeTillio threw five touchdown passes, including two in the fourth quarter to Ethan Holbrook, as the Eagles pulled away late for a 35-7 Southwestern Conference win over Berea-Midpark at Mark Wahlberg Chevrolet Stadium.

DeTillio finished the night 15-of-23 for 283 yards to go along with the five TD passes.

After the Titans took an early 7-0 lead, Avon (7-1, 5-0 in the SWC) answered with a 9-yard TD pass from DeTillio to Braden Fitchko to tie the game.

"We started out a little slow but we knew our threats on the outside were better and we wanted to take advantage of that," DeTillio said. "In the first half we had a hard time doing that but we were able to change that in the second half."

A 66-yard touchdown pass to tight end Austin Mitchell in the second quarter gave Avon a 14-7 lead, one the Eagles wouldn't relinquish.
