In back-and-forth game, the Avon Eagles were able to respond after losing to Avon Lake the day before with a 5-4 victory at the Lake Erie Crushers' MercyHealth Stadium on March 28.

Avon Lake (1-2) won the first game between the two teams at home on March 27, 10-5. This time around, five runs was enough to get it done for the Eagles (2-1). After Gavin Ehrhardt put Avon up 2-0 in the first inning with a two-run homer, the Eagles stayed in the lead for the next five. Both teams stranded at least nine runs, so either side that came up short would be left thinking about missed opportunities.

The Shoremen were finally able to get over the hump in the top of the sixth. A miscommunication in the Avon outfield allowed a ball to drop, leading to Jack Lion's two-RBI single. The Eagles' top of the order stepped up in the bottom of the sixth with RBI from Matt Maxey, Leo Walters and Ian Cain to win it.

"Our whole goal and mindset this season is to have no fear and there's no such thing as a failure if we learn from every experience," Avon coach Pat Scholla said. "They're holding themselves accountable to that, and they were able to flush it from yesterday and come back today and play for each other."
