This game meant more than others for the Avon Eagles.

All conference games are important in the NOLL, but a 17-9 win at Rocky River on April 18 felt different for Avon. This is the second year in a row that the Eagles have bested the Pirates, and beating a successful program like Rocky River is a feel-good moment for anyone.

"All wins are great, but when you can beat a really good program like Rocky River, it feels really good," Avon coach Sharod Wright said. "It shows the boys that we are good, too."

Avon (7-1) has won six games in a row after dropping a 13-8 decision to Olmsted Falls on March 21. The Eagles didn't need this win to prove they're good - they've done plenty enough to show that. However, a victory like this instills confidence in a group. After the game was over, a jubilant cheer could be heard from the visiting locker room.
